For the eighth day of Christmas in a jar, we have Cowboy Cookies. I found the recipe from Bakerella, and thought it would make a perfect Christmas cookie recipe with green and red M&Ms.
You will need:
- 1 Quart size jar {Amazon link

- 1 1/3 cup all purpose flour {Amazon link} - I like the Bob Red Mills Brand
- 1 teaspoon aluminum free baking powder {Amazon link
}
- 1 teaspoon baking soda {Amazon link
}
- 1/4 teaspoon salt {Amazon link
}
- 1 cup old fashion oats {Amazon link
}
- 3/4 cup M&Ms (I used red, green and white mint holiday M&Ms) {Amazon link
}
- 3/4 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips {Amazon link
}
- 1/2 cup light brown sugar, packed {Amazon link
}
- 1/2 cup white sugar
- 1/3 – 1/2 cup chopped pecans {Amazon link
}
- Canning funnel {Amazon link
}
- Ribbon, Tags, Labels, Etc. (Optional)

Instructions
Easy and yummy Cowboys cookies are sure to please!
Step 1
Using the canning funnel, layer flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Pack each layer down firmly after each layer in order to fit all the ingredients. Next layer your oats and then M&M's. I used the mint chocolate (red, green and white) holiday M&M's to give it a minty flavor. Next add your chocolate chips, brown sugar, then white sugar. You can top it off with chopped pecans if you'd like, but I left the nuts out since many people have allergies to nuts and I really didn't have any room anyhow - I must have not packed my layers tight enough.
Step 2
On your tag or sticker, put these directions: "Preheat Oven to 350 degrees. Stir dry ingredients in a bowl & add: 1/2 cup butter (almost melted), 1 slightly beaten egg & 1 teaspoon vanilla extract. Combine Thoroughly. Roll into 1- 1/2 inch balls & Bake for 10 minutes."
Step 3
