6th Day of Christmas in a Jar - Peppermint Stick Cocoa

For the sixth day of Christmas in a jar, we have a warm and minty treat. I found the recipe at MyRecipes, but left out the salt.

Instructions

You can really use any jar(s) you'd like, but I used a Ball smooth sided 1 quart jar {Amazon link}.

Step 1

Place your candy canes or peppermint candy into a ziploc bag. With a meat tenderize, gently smash the bag to break up the mints. You want to break them into pieces, not peppermint dust! If the ones you purchase are small enough, then skip this step.

Step 2

Using the canning funnel, layer powdered milk, cocoa powder, sugar, chocolate chips and peppermint candy. Pack the layers down just a bit after each layer. If you didn't want to use peppermint, you could use more chocolate chips or mini-marshmallows instead.

Step 3

On your tag or sticker, put these directions: "Mix contents in a large bowl. For each serving, place 1/3 cup cocoa mix in a mug and stir in 1 cup boiling water. Store remaining mix in airtight container." Decorate the jars however you'd like.
